Welcome! My name is Cami, and I am an Associate Licensed Counselor, practicing under the supervision of Richard Jones, LPC-S. I’m glad you’ve found Hope City Counseling. No matter what your life story might be, we long for Hope City to be a place where you feel seen and supported.

Our stories begin long before we have the words to tell them. My own story started in Montgomery, Alabama, and took a defining turn when I became a childhood cancer survivor. It’s an experience that shaped me in ways I am still uncovering today—teaching me, sometimes slowly, about the profound resilience we carry and the quiet ways our earliest trials stay with us.

During seven transformative years in Mississippi—where I earned a bachelor’s degree at Mississippi College and a Master’s in Counseling at Reformed Theological Seminary—I deepened my conviction that who we are today is inextricably linked to our childhood. I’ve learned that the ‘inner child’ often holds the keys to the healing we seek as adults.

Because I believe so strongly in the power of those early years, I am passionate about working with children as young as five years old. In my practice, I utilize play therapy techniques, allowing children to communicate in their most natural language: play. By helping them process their daily emotions through play, we can build the coping skills and emotional resilience that will serve them through adolescence and into adulthood.

In my work with both adults and children, I don’t just see symptoms; I see a person with a history worth honoring. Whether you are an adult looking to untangle the knots of your past, or a parent seeking a safe space for your child to grow, I would be honored to walk alongside you. Healing isn’t about ‘getting over’ our history—it’s about learning to carry it with grace and finding the freedom to grow into the person you were always meant to be.
